Leslie's January 2021 Blog

Happy New Year!

I say this every year, but it is so true.

Every Jan 1st, I always feel a new sense of renewal. It’s like a new beginning- a chance to start fresh. (Oh yes, each year we all pledge to eat less, exercise more, lose those few extra pounds)

We all, one way or another make these “resolutions”- but how about something different, as we look back at 2021.

A good laugh. (from one of our neighbors)

Reflections as 2021 draws to a close Have a laugh. (Especially with Covid still a major threat to our wellbeing!)

  1. The dumbest thing I ever bought was a 2021 planner.
  2. 2020: Stay away from negative people. 2021: Stay away from positive people.
  3. The world has turned upside down. Old folks are sneaking out of the house & their kids are yelling at them to stay indoors.
  4. This morning I saw a neighbor talking to her cat. It was obvious she thought her cat understood her. I came to my house & told my dog…..We had a good laugh.
  5. Every few days try your jeans on just to make sure they fit. Pajamas will have you believe all is well in the kingdom.
  6. Does anyone know if we can take showers yet or should we just keep washing our hands?
  7. I never thought the comment, “I wouldn’t touch him/her with a 6 foot pole” would become a global policy, but here we are!

There is a new reality we are seeing now –

As more and more people are trying to get to Florida, the supply of homes very small, and the delay of construction due to shortages of materials and workers, prices have really increased.

As you think about putting your home on the market,
a few hints:

You never get a second chance to make a first impression!

Become your buyer – If you weren’t moving to Paradise, would you buy your home at the price you are asking?

What do you see when you pull up to your home?

Does the first impression say: Wow- this home looks pristine?

As they walk through your home, can your buyer envision each room for his or her purpose? Is there plenty of room for their belongings? Empty every top shelf ( do this in every cabinet and shelf in the house). You have to pack any way, this will give you a head start. Whether you are dreaming of downtown or dockside, water view or your favorite fairway, our commitment is to help you discover your ultimate lifestyle.

So now you are thinking –

“How do I get the most dollars out of my home when I sell?”

A Few Hints

Your mission is to make your home show like a model.

Declutter-Declutter-Declutter!!

The most important thing to remember is: once you decide to put your home on the market, it becomes a house and not your home – (you have to pack anyway, so why not get started early)

Look at your house though buyer’s eyes.

What do you see when you pull up to your house and park your car? Curb appeal is so important. You only get one chance to make a first impression.

Does the front of your home have an inviting and welcoming allure? Are your bushes and other plant life trimmed and tidy? Arrange a few pots of colorful plants and frame the entry way to invite your perspective buyer into their new home.

As you enter, are you greeted with a neutral fresh scent? You want to appeal to all the senses for greatest effect.

Is your paint color neutral so others can visualize their furniture in the house? As you walk from room to room is everything neat and tidy?

Are your kitchen counters clear? Empty every top shelf, every cabinet, every closet, and anyplace that has a top shelf leave empty. After all – you want to give the illusion of more than enough storage for anyone to need.

Hope these few little hints help you get on the right track.
